How to file an online condonation request when your ITR-V received after 120 days.

Is “Status” of your Income Tax Return filed for the relevant assessment year is showing ITR-V received after 120 days at Central Processing Center, Income Tax Department, Bengaluru? Want to know how to file an online condonation request when your ITR-V received after 120 days.

Have your received communication letter from the Income Tax Department, CPC, Bengaluru stating the “status” of your Income Tax Return filed is ITR-V received after 120 days and you are requested to file an online condonation request in this regard.

You have received this communication because the Income Tax return acknowledgement i.e ITR-V which tax payer is required to send it to the Central processing cell, bengaluru within 120 days of filing of its return of income for the relevant assessment year has not been received.

This is a case where assessee has not adopted any of the method for e-verification of income tax return.

Note: Processing of your relevant year income tax return is subject to the acceptance of the condonation request.

Assessing office can reject your request if it is not satisfied with the reason you have provided for the condonation for such a delay.

Follow these below mentioned steps for making an online request for condonation.

Step 1:

Visit Income Tax website.

Login to your income tax dashboard with your Unique ID and Password. Enter captcha as shown in the image.

If the image is not readable or not clear to you, then refresh the image and enter the code.

Step 2:

Select “Service Request”from the “My Account”.

Step 3:

Under service request option> Select Request Type as “New Request” from the options available for “New Request” or “View Request”

Under request category > Select Condonation Request from the options available for:

(a) Intimation u/s 143(1)/154/16(1)/35

(b) Refund Issue

(c) Change ITR form Particulars

(d) Condonation Request

Step 4:

submit condonation request

Select reasons for delay from the available option(s) or write your own under “Others”:

(a) ITR-V was sent earlier by post but not received by CPC.

(b) Not aware that the ITR-V sent to CPC was rejected for technical reasons.

(c) Not aware of e-verification process.

(d) Not aware that signed ITR-V to be sent to CPC.

(e) Others.

Choose the most relevant reason for your condonation.
