Income Tax Department has Issued all the ITR Forms for the Assessment Year 2021-22, taxpayers have to gear up as the due date for filing the Income Tax Return for the AY 2021-22 is approaching. Here is the process how to submit ITR JSON and verify the Income Tax Return in offline mode.
Step 1: Log in
Log in to your New Income Tax Portal dashboard by entering your PAN and password.

Step 2: File Now
Taxpayers have to select “File Now” on the dashboard of the Income Tax e-filing New Portal.

Step 3: Offline
Taxpayers have to fill out the details for the Assessment Year 2021-22 i.e., the Current AY. Though Income Tax Department recommends you to file your ITR in online mode, they have given the option to submit the ITR in offline mode too.

Income Tax Department has provided an offline platform (Offline Utility) where taxpayers can generate JSON of their respective ITR Form for the Assessment year 2021-22.
After selecting the offline mode, taxpayers are required to choose the filing type from the drop-down bar and the ITR Form type. Click on continue to proceed further.

Step 4: Upload ITR JSON
Taxpayers are required to upload their ITR JSON prepared using the offline JSON utility for the assessment year 2021-22.

On successful validation of the prepared ITR JSON, a message will pop up as “Validation Successful” and in case of some error’s taxpayers are required to rectify their errors and retry to upload the ITR JSON.

Step 5: Verification
After successfully validating the ITR JSON, taxpayers need to select the mode to verify their ITR for the AY 2021-22.

In case you have opted to e-verify later within 120 days, follow these steps to e-verify:
- Login to your IT Dashboard

- Navigate to e-verify return from the e-file option available on the Top Menu bar.

- Select the ITR and the relevant AY for which you are required to verify your ITR.

- Taxpayer will get the OTP on their registered mobile number with Aadhaar.


- In case phone number is not registered with Aadhaar, user will get the message “OTP Generation failed”, in those case you can opt other options to e-verify your ITR.

Step 6: Confirm
Taxpayers are required to make sure that the uploaded ITR JSON is correct in all respect as the New Income Tax e-filing Portal will not display the draft version of the uploaded ITR. ITR once submitted cannot be modified later, though you can revise your ITR in case of any error.

Step 7: Submit
Now your ITR has been submitted successfully and the acknowledgment number along with ITR-V has been sent to the registered email ID.
