Due date for filing TDS return Q2 FY 2022-23 extended

The due date for filing TDS return Q2 FY 2022-23 gets an extension by CBDT till 30th November 2022 for Form 26Q only.

Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) vide Circular No. 21/2022 in F.No.275/25/2022-IT(B) dated 27th October 2022 has extended the due date for furnishing the TDS statement in the modified and latest Form 26Q for the Quarter second of the financial year 2022-23 from 31st October 2022 to 30th November 2022.

However, there are no changes in the due date for furnishing the other TDS forms for the period covering from July 2022 to September 2022, the due date for the other forms remains the original due date i.e., 31st October 2022.

Considering the difficulties in filing Form 26Q and issues like challan mismatch, failure in verifying the challan, adjustments of challans, etc. in Form 26Q, CBDT has extended the due date for filing the TDS return Q2 FY 2022-23 by a month.

Late filing of the TDS statement may attract fees u/s 234E of Rs.200/- per day covering the period of default.
